The Wrist Witch Story

For Shaiena Kataria, watches were never a plan. They were always a presence.

Growing up in a family watch business, much of her childhood was spent in the store, observing conversations, learning through experience, and developing a connection to watches long before she understood the depth of it. What began as familiarity gradually became instinct.

A family tradition strengthened that bond. Every Diwali, her grandfather gifted her a watch. Over time, those gifts became markers of memory rather than possessions, forming a collection that started long before she consciously became a collector. With a store rule that any watch worn by family members could never return to the display counter, her collection grew naturally, one watch and one story at a time.
After completing her post-graduation, Shaiena explored multiple career paths through internships across different industries. Like many journeys, hers wasn't linear. From aspiring to become a pilot to training as a national-level shooter, and later exploring luxury and fashion, every chapter shaped her perspective. With every experience came greater clarity, not about what she wanted to do, but about what she didn't. Rather than accepting a role she couldn't fully commit to, she chose to follow the one world that had always felt familiar.Through it all, watches remained the one constant.

In 2018, she entered the professional watch industry with a luxury retailer, working closely with collectors, enthusiasts, and first-time buyers. Her journey extended into the pre-owned watch segment, followed by time spent within a service centre environment, where she gained first hand exposure to the technical side of watchmaking and after-sales care.

These experiences offered a rare view of a watch's complete lifecycle, from the showroom and the wrist, to servicing, restoration, and the pre-owned market.
In 2023, she stepped away from the corporate side of the industry and turned her attention towards watch media and content creation. This transition eventually led to collaborations and contributions with platforms such as GMT India and Chronoholic India, adding another dimension to her understanding of the industry through storytelling, journalism, marketing, and community building.

Today, Wrist Witch is the result of that journey.

Having experienced watches through retail, service, pre-owned, media, marketing, and collecting, Shaiena brings together perspectives that rarely exist in one place. She understands how brands think, how collectors buy, how watches age, how they are serviced, and most importantly, what customers are truly looking for when choosing a timepiece. Wrist Witch was created to bridge those worlds, making watches more approachable, more relatable, and ultimately helping people find pieces that feel right for their own story.
